3月11日の東北関東大地震により、多くの被災者が出ております。特に聴覚障害者の方々は、補聴器が無くなったり、水につかって壊れたりした結果、避難生活が非常に困難になっています。この状況を鑑み、東日本大震災聴覚障害者救援宮城本部の要請を受け、聴覚障害を持った地震被害者の方々を対象に、太陽光で充電できる補聴器（ソーラー・イヤー）を100個（50人分）配給します。このプロジェクトはウインローダー様のご協力を受け、さらに、日本元気塾・グローバル・アジェンダ・ゼミナールの有志メンバーが賛同し、力をあわせて寄付を集めます。

On 11 March 2011, Japan was struck by the most powerful earthquake and tsunami, leaving massive impact and thousands of people remain homeless without proper access to energy and lighting. This emergency project provides solar powered lanterns to the most severely affected areas.

The Firefly 12 Mobile is a LED lamp that can be charged with the sun via a solar panel and also charges your mobile phone. It is 5 times brighter than a kerosene lamp and provides light for 5 hours on a high setting and 50 hours on a low setting. Barefoot Power is the winner of the 2010 World Bank Group Lighting Africa Award for best room lighting, top performance and best value categories for their PowaPack and Firefly range of solar lighting products.
The Solar light really helped the difficult situation that indigenous communities in Papua were facing. With this solar light it really help the indigenous communities family to save their money that previously went to purchase kerosene and candle, and to charging their mobile phones. The money they save are now reallocated to meet other family needs.
Since Kopernik solar light is a multifunctional gadget, it is very appropriate to be used in such remote area, far away from public electricity, and it is very efficient (zero in operational cost) and effective (brighter than kerosene lamps). Unfortunately, although it also has function in recharging cellular phones, it sometimes cannot work well (it cannot recharge the cell phones). If some Led Lamps goes off, how we can replace them easily without special skills in electronic stuff. The manual guide in functioning the cell phones recharge should be clearer and be simple. It will be more helpful if it is attached with the pictures step by step. The Led Lamps should be able to replace in a very simple ways and in the cheapest cost.

LEDs enable the development of lighting products suitable for use in developing countries at very low cost. Most poor households are burning between US$0.50 – US$2.00 each week on kerosene. Our careful pro-poor design has resulted in LED products that will payback within 6 months (some within 2 months!)

早速ですが、本プロジェクトにご協力いただいている、森田結花さんからの記事です。
皆様こんにちは。森田結花と申します。
コペルニク日本版の初プロジェクトである、西アフリカに位置するナイジェリアの村へソーラーランタンを配るプロジェクトが開始されましたね。
私は、2011年の夏の3か月間、ナイジェリアのイモ州という田舎町で、今回のプロジェクトの対象である寄宿制の幼稚園・小学校や村の人の家に滞在し、現地の方々と一緒に生活をしていました。この学校では、両親が遠方で働いていたり、両親ともに亡くなってしまったり、経済的な問題があったりなど様々な事情で、3-12才くらいの子どもたちが共同生活をしています。
このプロジェクトに関し、今後ブログで少しずつ現地の様子をお伝えできればと思います。

Last week, we welcomed Derek Ngai from d.light to conduct training in Oecusse. We also managed to have a field trip together to Suni Ufe and Molo, two of the off-grid villages in Oecusse. I felt nervous after having been informed by FEEO staff that we will be crossing two flooded rivers. Thankfully, the sun was shining during the trip and no flood occurred.
Ewa will be speaking at Invent for Humanity’s inaugural Technology Exchange Fair, which will feature 20 technology providers and 20 needs organizations in the world’s first transparent marketplace for humanitarian technology transfer and intellectual property (IP) licensing. The two-day event will start to take place in January 24, 2012 in Geneva, Switzerland.
